CMSA Membership FAQ's

How to register online for CMSA membership and league/player fees.

Do not use Safari as your Internet browser.
In either windows explorer or firefox, delete any temp Internet files. Example in windows explorer goes to tools./internet options/clear temp files.

CMSA is an all-volunteer organization and we do not have an office or an office phone.  All communication is done via email.

The CMSA Board recently passed a motion requiring all player fees to be paid online. Basically, we are going "cash-free" and will also not accept physical checks from players (Sponsors are NOT affected by this policy). Players may still pay for check, but this must be entered into the online registration system as an E-check.

Registration is a TWO Step Process – step one is to pay cmsa membership fees for each fiscal year and step two is to pay for league/player fees.  It is two separate transactions.

CMSA’s registration system accepts an e-check (need your bank ABA number and your checking account number or debit and credit cards (Visa/MasterCard/Discover).

As of April 1, 2011, we will no longer accept manual checks or any cash.  All registration must be done online for CMSA dues and player fees. You must pay your CMSA dues once a year, if you only play softball in the summer, you need to renew your cmsa dues before you pay for the softball player fee, if you only play beach vb, you need to pay your cmsa dues before you pay for the beach vb player fee. Our fiscal year starts with the fall sports and runs through the end of the summer.

  1. - Go to REGISTRATION PROFILE – your user name is an email address

Enter your email and password – can you get in to check your profile? If you need to update any information, please do so.

If yes – did you pay the 2010-2011 cmsa membership dues?  If you did, go to step two, pay league fees, enter your email and password, select gender, select the particular sport league you are interested in, then check the box of the fee you need to pay, follow directions including listing what team you are on.

If no, you have not paid your 2010-2011 cmsa membership dues, go to step one, pay, then log out completely, log back in at step two – with your email and password, select your gender, select the league, select the player fee, list your team if applicable, pay and log out.

Example if you are male and want to play in the men’s flag football league, choose male, choose men’s flag football, then select the player fee.
If you are female, select female, then select Women’s Sunday Softball, then choose the player fee and proceed.

If you have a problem, can’t remember your user name or password, send an email to info@chicagomsa.org; do not contact Thriva or Active Network

Here's some FAQ's regarding this policy that you may share with players as questions arise:
Q1) Why is CMSA requiring online player payments?
A1: Requiring players to pay online saves both Commissioners and CMSA Treasurer time by taking away the handling of money. We are also better able to track member payments and provide you with regular registration reports. Online payments also put a stop to misplaced payments

From an efficiency standpoint, we are all volunteers. The handling of physical cash and checks is very time consuming for both the Commissioner and the CMSA Treasurer. We now have almost 5,000 members and it is becoming a fulltime job to track payments. By going to online transactions only, we are cutting down on lost payments and saving tons of time on processing registrations, since everything is now automated.

Q2: What if I don't have a credit/debit card?
A2: Easy! Players can still pay by check via "E-check". On the CMSA registration system, the player may enter their bank routing number and checking account number.

Q3: What if I don't have internet/computer?
A3: We live in a major metropolitan area. Players without Internet may visit their local library and use the Internet for FREE. Libraries are located throughout the Chicago area.

Q4: Can I just hand my check to the league Commissioner?
A4: Not anymore. Players who pay by check will not be considered registered

Q5: What about my Team Fee/Sponsor check?
A5: We will continue to accept physical check payments from Sponsors/Team fees, but are starting to encourage sponsors to pay more efficiently online.

Q6: When do online transactions post to my account?
A6: Immediately! This is a huge advantage of online transactions. No more checks being processed one or two months after they are written.

Q7: How can I check the status of my account?
A7: On our website, go to the upper left hand corner to the line which says registration profile, enter your email and password.

Q8 – Can I pay for more wife or child on my account?
A8 – No, each person must have his or her own account with his or her own email address.

Q9- I just changed my email address, how do I change it for CMSA records?
A9- The user must log into their registration profile and update it themselves. CMSA does not update email addresses automatically.
